This month I travelled up to the north shore of Lake Superior with some good friends. Winter is my favorite time to photograph the lake and the temperature on the first morning was a balmy 17 degrees below zero. When its this cold the lake is very atmospheric, if you can keep your camera working you will be rewarded. In my case I took a rotating lens panoramic camera with a 140 degree view. Stunningly it kept working although I did have some banding which I guess you might expect in such harsh conditions. I’m really looking forward to making some 6×18 inch platinum prints from these negatives.
